Mission Supplier Assurance Manager 2

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Mission Assurance Manager 2 in the Supplier Quality team located in the San Diego, CA.

This position will report directly to the Division Supplier Quality Homeroom in Baltimore, MD with dotted line support to the San Diego site Mission Assurance Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Direct management of the Supplier Mission Assurance personnel.

Developing, collecting, analyzing and presenting supplier metrics to support the San Diego campus, Division Supplier Quality, Program Mission Assurance and Global Supply Chain teams.

Engage in Program Capture, Kickoff and program assessments activities to identify supplier quality risk in program sourcing plans, influence sourcing strategy to include capable suppliers and to identify risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact of poor supplier quality.

Extensive people leadership and collaboration skills to work with supplier management as well as support Division Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering and Program Mission Assurance functional areas to successfully support delivery of quality products to a large number of programs.

Define and monitor Supplier Mission Assurance program specifications and processes; prepare, maintain and review procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and/or government requirements.

Oversee monitoring of suppliers’ compliance to the Mission Assurance and Quality Management System requirements that have been flowed down, ensure they are flowing down those requirements to their sub-tier suppliers.

Ensure flow-down of contract requirements to qualified/approved suppliers.

Creation and documentation of First Article plans for new, applicable DMS re-designs and engineering changes.

Coordinate with Supplier Quality Field Operations teams to ensure program risk mitigation strategies are executed in conjunction with key program schedule milestones.

Collaborate with Manufacturing and Program organizations to identify and understand supplier quality issues identified in receiving inspection and on the factory floor. Work with Supplier Quality Field Operations to drive suppliers to sustained Root Cause & Corrective Action as appropriate.

Collaborate with Division Mission Assurance teams to support Sentinel Alerts process. Responsible for risk assessment and verification of assigned alert action completion in a timely manner.

Collaborate with Division Global Supply Chain teams to ensure quarterly supplier evaluations are completed on time and entered into the SAMS database. Ensure quarterly SAMS evaluations are reflected in supplier charts presenting in PMRs along with any comments for yellow/red items.

Oversee counterfeit material prevention implementation.

Collaboration with programs and suppliers on effective Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations of supplier related defects.

Ensures deviation/variance investigations are performed with appropriate SMEs. Creating the applicable documentation to document the deviation/variance and collaborates with engineering functions to ensure all actions are completed in a timely manner.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field.

10 years of industry experience in Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, or Engineering.

5 years of experience leading teams and managing employees.

Proven leadership with demonstrated experience in the requirements/process for engineering/manufacturing requirements reviews and Critical Design Reviews.

Proficient in continuous improvement processes and tools, i.e., DOE, SPC, Six Sigma, FMEA.

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).

Demonstrated ability to drive risk mitigation, opportunity capture, and issues resolution across all stakeholder disciplines throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle on fast paced, complex, dynamic, high visibility programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a Quality Manager

Minitab experience

SAP Business System experience

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer/Auditor/Manager

Experience with capacity analysis tools helpful
