Mission Specialist, Distributed Training Center

Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Mission Specialist, Distributed Training Center. The location of this position is at Langley AFB, VA. The qualified candidate will facilitate the daily execution of Large Force Employment (LFE) missions for the Distributed Mission Operations (DMO), Distributed Training Center (DTC).

Responsibilities include a thorough knowledge of A-10, B-1, B-52, F- 15C, F-15E, F-16, F-22, E-3, RC-135, and E-8 employment and training requirements. The Mission Specialist will facilitate the DTC's support of daily Combat Air Forces (CAF) DMO training through scheduling, scenario development, mission planning and execution materials, brief, execution and debrief support for Large Force Employment (LFE) Protection Level 2 (PL2) and mostly PL3 events. The candidate may attend CAF exercise planning conference and meetings, such as Red Flag to obtain and understand unit warfighter's training requirements and to coordinate the DTC's plans and scenarios to meet the unit's training requirements.

To accomplish these unit training goals he/she will develop the executable Computer Generated Forces (CGF) scenarios, mission materials and briefs for the diverse aircrew training audience. The Mission Specialist is the focal point and leader for the execution of the DMO missions acting as the white force. He/she will control and direct the DMO mission personnel to regulate the LFE exercise flow and assist the insertion of timely training injects. The Mission Specialist will assist DTC Senior Mission Director in guiding the USAF mission commanders thorough the training event debriefings.

Additional duties may include:

Candidate may provide consulting expertise to military and/or defense clients to develop and evaluate military training and doctrine. Candidate may provide specialized planning and/or execution expertise in specialized phases of military training exercises--including doctrinal development, scenario development, and after action review and analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  2. Must possess a Bachelor's degree.

  3. Must possess a current DoD Secret Clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and SAP/SAR.

  4. Must possess a minimum of 10 years of direct relevant experience.

  5. Must be an experienced Mission Commander or Instructor Pilot in a 4th or 5th Generation Fighter.

  6. Must be current and qualified in the 3-1 tactics for Combat Air Forces 4th and 5th Generation Fighters.

  7. Must have flown operationally within past 3 years.

  8. Recent experience and understanding of current OPLANs and CONPLANs

  9. Must be above average to excellent writing, editing, and briefing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI.

  2. Recent experience (within last three years) with Combat Air Forces DMO exercises and simulations.

  3. Weapons School Graduate.

  4. ALO/CAS/ASOC experience.
