Mission Assurance Engineer 3

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Quality/Mission Assurance Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

The selected candidate will become part of our Threat Mitigation, Engineering and Imaging (TME&I) program and will be responsible for defining and monitoring mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of the program.

The Quality/Mission Assurance Engineer will perform or assure quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements, and assess program performance and risks. You will work under the TME&I Program Manager for day-to-day activities and will receive technical guidance and support from the NGTS Global Mission Excellence and Technology homeroom organization to which they will directly report.

The successful candidate will lead both the Quality/Mission Assurance and Safety aspects of the program. Roles and responsibilities include:

Quality/Mission Assurance

  • Assess program performance, deliverables, and risks to ensure mission success and adherence to the division and sector Quality Management System and Command Media
  • Conduct process audits and assessments
  • Coordinate, review, and analyze program metrics, including Quality and Technical metrics
  • Lead Continuous Improvement activities, corrective/preventive actions, root cause analysis, lessons learned, etc.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the program's Preventive and Corrective Action Board (PCAB) and track all corrective/preventive actions to closure
  • Coordinate and facilitate the program's Risk and Opportunity Management Board
  • Support program reporting and reviews (e.g., PMRs, IPRS, Program Execution Reviews)
  • Ensure that the program's documents and records are well-organized, complete, up-to-date, accessible, and controlled
  • Ensure that the program's Contract Requirement Traceability Matrix (CRTM) is complete, current, and compliant
  • Assist the program manager in recommending/approving supplier quality requirements and assessing subcontractor performance

Environmental, Health and Safety

Serve as the site's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) lead, maintaining the site's compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. Responsibilities in this area include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the site's Injury and Illness Prevention (Safety Management), Hazardous Material Communication (HAZCOM), and Radiation programs
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses for all roles at the site
  • Maintain records and agency reports pertaining to the site
  • Coordinate with the sector EHS team; attend sector EHS meetings and flow down information to the employees at the site
  • Conduct safety meetings with all employees at the site on a regular basis
  • Provide/coordinate EHS training for the site's new hires, visitors, employees and management to ensure compliance with EHS regulations, company and customer requirements maintain the site's EHS training records
  • Review and approve chemicals ahead of use to identify eco alternatives, ensure compliance with permit limits, ensure training and personal protective equipment are provided, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are accessible and current
  • Maintain inventory of hazardous materials (chemicals)
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste profiles and inventory, monitor waste handling and disposal, including any required permits, manifest tracking and closure
  • Manage any PPE/hearing conservation supplies and related programs/documentation
  • Radiation-related record keeping, training, equipment calibration
  • Emergency Preparedness/Response -- conduct emergency evacuation planning, training and drills, support Crisis Management activities and incident reporting

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and a minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in Quality/Mission Assurance and/or related experience supporting systems engineering, production, integration, operations, configuration management, test, and/or program management
  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to select and coordinate key metrics and subsequently present meaningful data for project review; ability to generate and analyze quantitative data
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and the confidence to brief upper management and elevate issues
  • Familiarity with Risk and Opportunity Management principles and processes; ability to drive risk mitigation, opportunity capture, and issues resolution across all stakeholder disciplines throughout all phases of the program lifecycle
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn and understand EHS requirements
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain TSA vetting prior to starting in the position
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Process improvement experience/certification, e.g., Lean Six Sigma
  • Hands-on experience/training in ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards
  • Audit experience
  • Experience with environmental, health, and safety requirements and implementation
  • Experience working with airport security and operations
  • Experience working with TSA
  • Current TSA vetting
