Mid Level Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support our Monterey, California location (remote work with some travel may be acceptable). A successful candidate would excel in a rapid execution, cross discipline and distributed environment with small teams. As such, a significant breadth of experience is needed to cover the entire system life cycle and a vast array of technologies. Significant emphasis will be placed on demonstrated intellectual agility and ability to learn and apply new technologies rapidly over direct experience with specific technologies. The position supports research teams doing largely exploratory data analysis and thus the exact methods cannot be enumerated up front.

This position will:

Execute full life cycle development
Perform architecture trade analysis
Assist in authoring software design, algorithm descriptions and requirements
Review applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies
Perform testing and validation
Assist in data analysis
Interact with senior government stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing or development position.
Experience with multiple production languages
Experience with multiple scripting languages
Exposure to mathematical programming languages and analytical modeling tools
Proven execution of total software life cycle
Understanding of database structures and query languages
Ability to work in fast-paced environment and deliver quality work products under tight deadlines
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills
Strong desire for intellectual growth

Preferred Qualifications:

C++ and JAVA experience
Python, R and Matlab
Developing products centered on machine learning and optimization
Experience with descriptive modeling languages UML/SYSML
Comfortable with Computer Science topics as well as SW development topics (algorithms and efficiency of execution versus components and interactions)
