Microelectronic Technician 3

AOA Xinetics (AOX), a Northrop Grumman Aerospace (NGAS) strategic business unit, is currently seeking a Microelectronics Technician 3 for our East Hartford, CT site.

Under supervision, the Microelectronics Technician 3 position will support the manufacturing group. Provide assistance to the engineering and research group as needed for assembly and development activities. This position will involve assembly and testing of complex electro optic assembles, optical modules and sub modules containing optical and fiber optic based components with guidance from principle engineers and scientists.

Job duties will include developing and setting up work areas to assemble and test the optical module assemblies. Additional duties may include setting up experiments and optical test equipment, conducting tests, and recording data. The position may involve assembly and alignment of mechanical and/or opto-mechanical subassemblies, machining/fabricating parts and some electronic assembly. The Microelectronics Technician 3 must be able to accurately develop and document these and other work processes.
Basic Qualifications:

Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or 6+ years' experience with optical and/or fiber optic based systems and components including optical fusion splicing systems
Familiarity with handling critical optical components and the use of optical test equipment and microscopes is required.
Understanding or formal training in electrical/electronic principles.
Must possess good written communications skills to document work performed.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Work for documenting processes and work
US Citizenship is a bona fide requirement as applicants selected are subject to a government security investigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates Degree in optics, fiber optics or electro optics technology and 4+ years of experience with optical and fiber optic systems and components
Formal electronics training and hands on experience with electronics and electrical test methods.
Small part soldering and rework experience.
Basic machine tool operation experience
Active TS clearance
