Microcircuit Device Test Engineer 3/4 - Embedded Software

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Advanced Technology Laboratory located in Linthicum, MD is seeking a motivated test engineer proficient in embedded software development to join our high-performance team supporting test of superconducting microcircuits.

This role will focus on the creation and development of software to control and extend the capabilities of a prototype electronics test instrument. This project will require coordination with external hardware development contractors and an internal software development team.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Hardware evaluation and debug using standard lab equipment like oscilloscopes and voltmeters
  • Perform software development, debug, and integration
  • Create code documentation and user instruction
  • Work with contractor to generate a development roadmap
  • Work closely with hardware development contractor to fix bugs and implement features
  • Work with test engineering to identify improvements in performance and usability

This job may be filled at a level 3 or level 4.

Basic Qualifications for a level 3 are:

  • Bachelors degree in Software/Computer Engineering or related field with 5 years of relevant experience (3 years with Masters; 0 years with PhD)
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Strong programming skills, especially Python
  • Agile development experience

Basic Qualifications for a level 4 are:

  • Bachelors degree in Software/Computer Engineering or related field with 9 years of relevant experience (7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD)
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Strong programming skills, especially Python
  • Agile development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electronics testing
  • Electronics test automation experience
  • Embedded Linux experience
  • Experience with FPGA development
  • Experience with Multi-Gigabit Transceivers
