This Department Manager will lead the Electronics & Payloads Department for the PAICoE Systems Engineering and Electronics & Payloads Directorate. Reports directly to the PAICoE Systems Engineering and Electronics & Payloads Director.
Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for coordinating training and support driving the Electronics & Payloads strategic development and vision at the Directorate/Sector level.
  • Operational tasks include staffing, responding to requests for information, metrics, and management of NCTA, capital and training.
  • Develop and implement departmental vision and strategies to drive employee engagement; improve hiring, development, training, attraction (Staffing) and retention of top talent.
  • Manage products and associated product champions; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracy.
  • Hiring to include both industry as well as university recruiting and relationships.
  • Will own department products and/or process/metrics & associated strategies; identify, develop & direct product champions; perform overall strategic development of dept. processes/metrics.
  • Will partner with DM/COE/Directorate to build/maintain technical breadth and depth of the department and participate in Center, Sector and COE improvement initiatives.
  • Will manage, mentor, develop, and train section managers.
  • Will work with programs to drive affordability, first time quality and cost competitiveness for all department related products and indirect activities.
  • Travel will be required up to 25% of the time

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
  • Minimum 7 years of Engineering experience.
  • Experience in technical leadership or management
  • A current in scope DoD Secret level security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD Degree in a STEM related field
  • Knowledge of E&P processes, procedures and work instructions required to support both management and engineering tasks
  • Previous experience as a functional manager
  • Experience in Defense & Aerospace industry
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • A current DoD Top Secret level security clearance;to includea periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years
  • Program Access
