Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Supply Chain Manager 3 to join the Packaging Engineering organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, California.
In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to:
Lead a team of 59 including managers, engineers, technicians, and support personnel, they will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy for Aeronautics Sector Packaging Engineering operations in support of Sector affordability targets, schedule performance, and first time quality. Leads team that has mission statement to design and engineer part protection solutions. We design packaging systems that focus on safety, cost efficiency, and minimal environmental impact. We engineer part protection from small engineering parts to full scale vehicles of air, land, sea, or space. Our packaging solutions range from wooden pallets and crates to customized trailer systems. As a design house, we engineer packaging and transportability concepts into reality. Responsible for establishing requirements for protection of parts, materials, and equipment throughout procurement, manufacturing and delivery cycles. Leads team that designs and develops specific devices and instructions for Packaging, Material Handling, Storage & Transportation. This position requires proficiency in Packaging Engineering as well as familiarity with the related Logistics functions of Transportation, Traffic, Import Compliance and Fleet Management statements of work. Must be able to lead, coordinate, and collaborate with internal and external customers, including local, state, federal, and international agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in support of Aeronautics Sector programs. Directs team activities associated with program transportation, storage, and material handling requirements, including major deliveries (classified and unclassified), and specialty movements as they relate to transportability. This includes NG program areas of production and engineering as well as multiple tier levels of suppliers that support these areas. Oversees domestic and international traffic activities to ensure inbound/outbound adequacy of the packaging and preservation plans. Supports the development of program packaging and transportation plans for all Aeronautics domestic and international deliveries. These include containers, crates, Parts Protection Devices, Material Handling Devices, transportation fixtures and tools.
- Bachelors Degree with 7 years of experience in Logistics and/or Operations Management and/or Packaging Engineering; 5 years with a Master's degree
- Prior leadership experience leading a team
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD Secret Security Clearance
- Masters Degree in Packaging or related Logistics Field of Study (Packaging, Shipping, Transportation)
- Knowledge and experience Packaging Engineering
- Experience in Aerospace Industry or related field
- Active DOD Secret Security Clearance and/or Special Access Programs
