This position is for the Department Manager (DM) of Structural Analysis and Materials & Process Engineering reporting to the Vehicle Engineering Director, Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence & Oklahoma City (PAICoE & OKC). The DM will be responsible for a growing and diverse organization of several section managers with over 120 employees; the majority of personnel in El Segundo and Redondo Beach. This department's charter is to maintain and evolve capability in the Structural Analysis Engineering and Materials Processes Engineering to support the program milestones with efficient, accurate and first time quality engineering. This department is multi-disciplined with the majority of aircraft structural analysts versed in load path development, FEM, classical solutions, composites, metals, fatigue, DaDT including managers and experts from the Materials & Process engineering field in composites, metals and respective processes.

The selected candidate will support the sector alignment strategies, Independent Review Teams and functional homeroom duties. DM will collaborate with programs, develop and report LRAP staffing projections to the business management team. Develop cost estimates for training as required, support engineering proposal BOE estimating/sign-off. DM will support business management team with associated operational data and manage staffing budget as required. Environment is fast pace, will require some travel to support hiring objectives. Special assignments are anticipated to support critical program milestone objectives. These will include additional leadership responsibilities to ensure engineering excellence and driving closure to achieve those objectives. Develop and provide training, career coaching, career growth and ensure retention and engagement remain a priority. This department head will participate as a contributor to the Community of Practice (CoP) both in Structural Analysis and Materials and Process; responsible for sector guidance to all other CoE's that may have requirements perform aircraft structural analysis and materials processes support. And, the DM will manage the participation of the subset disciplines described above in the appropriate CoPs. As the CoP lead/contributor you will be responsible to assist with promotion/planning to help the CoP lead obtain budget to define/update/maintain methodology, processes, tools, training, and associated manuals that may be common across sites (or CoE's).

Primary staffing duties are to coordinate with program and their staffing needs; appropriate requisition, timely fill of those requisitions, and prepare status to staffing Tech Ops rhythm meeting. Ensure all POST are up-to-date, track and update Taleo requisitions as required. Guide the department on growing pipelines of engineering bench strength with initiatives such as PATHWAYS Engineers, "Grow Our Own" cross VE department's discipline rotation, support RT&E inter-directorate rotation, and inter-CoE rotations. Maintain department DM Playbook on VE Directorate site.

Ensure adoption of program and functional performance metrics collection and reporting as required by our Engineering Dashboard. Responsible for timely updates and supporting metrics rhythm meetings. This department manager will participate as a contributor to the Community of Practice (CoP) responsible for sector guidance to all other CoE's that may have requirements performing on the sections' disciplines in the department. As the CoP lead/contributor you will be responsible to assist with promotion/planning to help the CoP lead obtain budget to define/update/maintain methodology, processes, tools, training, and associated manuals that may be common across sites (or CoE's).

Essential Functions:
•Provide oversight of all major functions within Vehicle Engineering South Bay Structural Analysis and Materials & Process Engineering.
•Key responsibilities include long range planning, and full responsibility for all aspects of functional homeroom performance.
•Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support divisions and programs achieve their missions.
•Determine organizational objectives with a long term perspective for desired results and alignment for overall long range plans and corporate wide strategy.
•Accountability for recruiting, staffing and retaining talent to deliver on the objectives.
