Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) sector is seeking a Software Manager 2 for the Engineering, Sciences & Technology (ES&T) Central Region to join our team in Melbourne, Florida.

In the Mission Systems sector, you'll join our experts in developing systems and solutions that keep our world safe. We are looking for an experienced Software Manager to lead a team of talented software engineers and ensure quality engineering support to programs, IRADs, and new business pursuits. The Software Manager will be working alongside fellow software engineering professionals, as we continue to develop and improve the software products for our customers. The position supports ES&T goals for providing people, processes and tools to meet the current and future needs of the programs and technologies within the sector portfolio. This role will help foster the establishment and maintenance of a world class Software and Digital Technologies organization in Melbourne, FL.

The successful Software Engineering Manager 2 will:
- Provide technical support for programs (~80%) and provide functional direction to a team of approximately 12-15 software engineers (~20%). Work closely with them to ensure they have what they need, remove impediments and enable them to meet commitments.
- Provide staff support for goal planning, performance reviews, training, and general employee development. Build, grow, and mentor the team.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance by engaging with the team in a daily collaborative style and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

- Other responsibilities may include, but aren't limited to:
Annual engagement survey coordination
New business acquisition, proposal, and special projects support
Support Functional Engineering initiatives
Support recruiting
Increasing engineering competencies through strategic hiring and employee skills development
Assist with staff workload forecast preparation
Identifying and implementing new or improved tools and processes to increase team efficiency
Support team by helping provide necessary tools and equipment in order to do their assigned job

This position may be eligible for the 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or other STEM discipline with 10 years of relevant experience in engineering development projects or Master's degree with 8 years of relevant experience in engineering development projects
Experience in the design, implementation, and delivery of sophisticated software systems throughout the build/test/release lifecycle
Previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
US Citizenship is required with an active DoD Top Secret Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Engineering or other STEM discipline
Active TS/SCI Clearance
Program management experience on a software development program
Experience leading software development teams from waterfall processes to agile and continuous integration / continuous deployment processes and tools
3+ years IPT or Functional Management experience
Business development and/or proposal experience
