Mgr Quality Engineering 1

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Amherst Systems Operating Unit located in Buffalo, NY seeks a Quality EngineeringManager 1 to lead front line inspection.

As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Amherst Systems Mission Assurance leadership team, the Quality Engineering Manager will lead a high performing Quality team and will be responsible for executing, monitoring and reporting on the health
of programs and quality of products and services. The Quality Engineering Manager reports to the Emerging Systems and Strategic Initiatives (ESSI) BU Mission Assurance Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Promotes the professional development of the Mission Assurance workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.
Set and monitor inspection priorities in order to meet program milestones.
Defines and monitors program specifications, quality metrics, internal audit metrics and other processes to ensure product quality.
Provides factory quality reporting to support OU, BU, and Division reporting requirements.
Leverages comprehensive metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission success.
Provides clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance. Maintains the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics.
Sets the strategy to meet customer's expectations, regularly communicates and briefs leadership on factory quality status.
Assures compliance in quality, risk management, safety, process improvement, subcontractor and supplier quality, configuration and data management in accordance with contractual requirements.
Develops and administers budgets, schedules and resource planning.
Responsible for department yields, expenses, and non-applied time, performance evaluation and merit planning.


Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
6+ years relevant experience in quality, engineering or manufacturing. 4+ years of experience with Masters.
Previous leadership experience in a team environment.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Strong problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field.
Ability to perform quality related data analysis
Prior Factory Quality experience.
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
