Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA where technology and teamwork come together. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering/ Tooling Team (ME/T) working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.

Essential Functions:
Manufacturing Engineering job duties involve the following: provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts to ensure the best manufacturing technique is being used to meet the Engineering design, participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during assembly, define sequence of operations for product builds, investigate and initiate corrective actions and improvements that involve non-conforming product and identify improvement opportunities in areas that require producibility and affordability initiatives.

Provide liaison support for Engineering definition to influence low production costs for integrated assembly related to electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids and propulsion systems.

This highly visible position requires a motivated self-starter with a background in military aircraft manufacturing (composite, machine part or assemblies).

Candidate will possess highly developed interpersonal skills, have a personal drive to exceed and be capable of working with and managing a high performing team.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Support the Manufacturing Planning and Systems homeroom and manage a technical/planning team that supports multiple programs.

Provide staff to program needs, lead and evaluate performance of the Manufacturing Engineering team. Provide an efficient technical interface between Program IPT's and Production.

Establish actions and timelines to meet Program IPT's, Global Supply Chain, Flight Test, Internal/External Audits, and other customer needs. Communicate topics and progress effectively both written and verbally to varying levels of program customers and functional organization leadership.

Provide Subject Matter Expertise to resolve technical questions and manufacturing planning (ERP Systems) issues.

Support development of ME labor estimates and develop processes to streamline and ensure robust execution of tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree withminimum of 5 years of experience in aviation or aerospace industry experience
  • A minimum 3 years of leadership/management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to interface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors
  • Experience with execution systems (ERP)
  • Understands creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 5 years of leadership/management experience
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates
  • Knowledge and experience with CAD data (CATIA V5, Unigraphics, NX)
  • Experience working with Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Experience working with Systems Applications and Products (SAP)
  • Active in-scope DOD Secret security clearance that has been granted / renewed within the past 5 years
