Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is looking for a Section Manger Mechanical Design Integration reporting to the Department Manager Vehicle Integration, Mechanical Design in the Vehicle Integration Design Center of Excellence (COE).

The Section Manager will lead a group of approximately 15 engineers responsible for the routing and installation of mechanical subsystems and mechanical design integration ranging from T01 to T05 located in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will provide support to multiple aircraft and space programs in both unclassified and classified environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to team members, ensuring members have sufficient statement of work, managing employee performance (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers), coordinating with programs to ensure appropriate staffing/de-staffing actions are developed and execute relative to their section, and ensuring their employees are familiar with and use required engineering processes and tools.

The candidate will be the first point of contact for technical issues on programs involving section members and will make decisions regarding required escalation and resources required for resolution. Responsibilities also include day-to-day operation of the organization including employee movement and balancing of resources among programs, and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5years of aircraft subsystems design and integration experience or mechanical design integration space experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an activeSCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior functional management experienceor engineering team lead experience
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Experience with industry standard design tools including CATIA V5, NX8 or NX10, Teamcenter, Engineering Central and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance applications (GD&T)
  • Must be a good communicator and work well in a team environment
  • Active SCI clearance.
