Mgr Hardware Engineering 1
The Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sciences (EM&S) Organization at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Hardware Engineering functional manager for a for a team of approximately 20 engineers on the Triton GSEG program. Candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary as well as working to refine the hardware development process and tools utilized for program excellence and design assurance.
The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 80% towards the Triton Ground Control Station program IMS. The engineering team is made up of mechanical, electrical, software, and hardware engineers, who are organized in 3 teams, focusing on drawings, hardware design, and system production. This role thus requires interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a background in either mechanical, structural, or electrical engineering, with manufacturing experience in the full defense program lifecycle, and in a production environment.
The candidate will work with the IPT Lead for Ground Control Station, with responsibilities not limited to: oversight and design assurance of the hardware engineering team, hardware development, integration, test, and field support, task planning in accordance with IMS, mechanical and electrical analyses, product integrity, and risk assessments.
BS in appropriate engineering discipline with 7 or more years of technical experience and leadership developing products for the military.
Candidate must have excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, and be able to work independently and within groups.
Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader.
The candidate must have a full understanding of his/her specific discipline.
Familiarity with other Engineering disciplines including manufacturing, test, systems, quality, and electrical.
Knowledge of engineering process, defense acquisition process, and proficiency in process development and implementation.
Understanding of system engineering process, and experience executing development activity from requirements through sustaininment in defense environment.
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
MS in Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical/Structural/Aerospace Engineering with 14 or more years of technical experience and direct management of engineers.
Experience in Mechanical development of one or more of the following: airborne and ground military RF and digital communications products, test hardware products, infrastructure products.
Proficiency with common design and analysis tools.
Hands on experience with DoD communications systems, including real-time embedded systems.
Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance.
Current or previous Top Secret, SCI, SAP clearances.
