Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Manager-1 position for the Engineering, Sciences & Technology (ES&T) Western Region. This is a dual role encompassing both people leadership for the ES&T Field Engineering Organization and technical performance within a current Program assignment.
The selected candidate will be responsible for a team of highly skilled engineers. This is a dual role position, so the candidate will spend part of their time managing a team and part of their time working activities for program(s).

What You'll get to Do:

  • Functional oversight for team members who are working multiple initiatives, primarily across the Ground based Mid-course Defense Program Operations, War-fighter Training and Exercise Support.
  • Your Leadership skills will be utilized supporting tasks such as:
    • Staffing and workload forecast; resource, travel, and timecard approval; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs; management and execution of employee performance review processes; and leadership and execution for a multitude of functional management processes.
    • Recruiting of talent to meet staffing commitments.
  • The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance.
  • Effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
  • Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.
  • Demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals.
  • Work closely with the managers of other engineering disciplines as well as program directors/managers.
  • The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience within a leadership role or 6 years' experience within a leadership in lieu of degree.
  • ActiveDoD Secret security clearance
  • Experience mentoring
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior Field Engineering experience
  • Proficientcomputer skills, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a fast pace, dynamic work environment
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills working with senior program customers as well as military customers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in a technical discipline
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance
