Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for Specialty Engineering Team Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on the F-35 program. This position would be located in Redondo Beach (Space Park), CA, and will require frequent travel to Palmdale, CA. As the Specialty Engineering Team Lead, this role would be responsible for technical, schedule and cost performance of a diverse team of approximately 35 engineers that includes a wide range of disciplines including Materials & Processes, Standard Parts, Low Observables, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects, System Safety, Mass Properties, Loads & Dynamics, ASIP/MESIP, and Durability & Damage Tolerance. This role is also responsible for Full Scale Test and Certification activities.
The qualified candidate will perform technical oversight of and resource allocation for all team issues and risks, manage cost and schedule performance for all team activities, be the primary team interface with internal and external customers, and assist relevant functional managers with team staffing changes and personnel issues. The successful candidate will also be committed to employee development and engagement, and have the ability to build and manage strong teams of personnel with diverse technical, educational and experience backgrounds. A broad understanding of airframe structural design and analysis is desired, with particular emphasis on materials & processes and low observables. Experience working in fast paced, airframe production environments and the ability to address multiple complex issues simultaneously is also desired.
* Management and successful execution of all team statement of work, including technical management of all team risks and issues
* Management of team cost and schedule performance, including earned value tracking and reporting for all cost accounts
* Management of day to day team priorities and resource allocation
The Specialty Engineering Team lead is expected to provide leadership and management of a multi-disciplined team of engineers to ensure technical integration across the F-35 Air Vehicle IPTs. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring staffing needs are met; provide develop, hire, and retain effective Specialty engineers and is the primary interface to F-35 Chief Engineer office.
Bachelor's degreein a STEMdiscipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) alongwith at least 10 years aerospace engineeringexperience
Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance or higher
3+ years experience overseeing a team and EVMS (Earned Value Management System) management
Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop/maintain strong working relationships with team members and internal/external customers
Master's degree in a STEM field with at least 14 years aerospace engineering leadership experience.
Active Secret Clearance or above.
Experience in leadership skills to plan, estimate, organize, integrate and lead IPT activities across multiple engineering disciplines, along with the ability to effectively motivate people to work as an integrated team across locations, companies and cultures.
In-depth technical expertise in airframe requirements management, architecture design, interface control and verification; trade studies and analysis of alternatives; development of end to end solutions.
Proven track record as a successful aerospace engineering manager on multiple military aircraft for at least 10 years.
Experience with international programs and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
