Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a highly qualified, mission oriented individual to lead a team of cross-discipline professionals located in San Diego, CA.

The position will be a direct report to the Director of Vehicle engineering within Autonomous Systems division. This position will manage a pool of 190 members of a multi-disciplined engineering team working on the design and manufacture of unmanned aircraft. Engineering disciplines include mechanical & electrical design, structural design & analysis, aircraft guidance, navigation, & control, vehicle management systems, materials & processes, and manufacturing engineering.

In addition the selected candidate will monitor major subcontractors and supplier while coordinating with design to insure the proper manufacture, assembly and installation of structures and systems for the Air Vehicle. This includes retrofits for the fleet, incorporation of new capabilities, support to flight testing and fleet maintenance. Strong coordination is required among other engineering support groups as well as the customer in order to provide effective support of these going activities.

The selected candidate will establishes schedules for noted tasks and manages the total cost for the air vehicle and major subcontracts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • 12 years' experience leading teams in the definition and execution of design activities.
  • Experience in managing an engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) performing contract SOW tasks with responsibility for the planning, execution, cost control, scheduling, risk management, and technical performance.
  • An in scope DOD Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain higher levels of clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree and a Top Secret and/or SAP clearance
  • Program management experience; ability to effectively influence stake holders across a matrix organization, and the customer community
  • Technical experience with aircraft, avionics, computer architecture/software, payloads and/or Ground Support Equipment
