Northrop Grumman is seeking a Section Manager for the Product and Subsystem Development Section, in the Laser & Sensor Subsystems Department. The Section Manager will be responsible for managing a team of approximately 10-25 engineers and technicians responsible for the design, analysis, production & testing of laser and sensor products providing support to multiple government programs in both open & classified environments. In addition, this Section Manager will act as the Lab Manager for the Laser & Sensor Subsystems Department, ensuring safe operation and compliance with internal policies and procedures. Strong communication, leadership, strategic thinking, effective execution, and team building skills are highly desired.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ensuring members have sufficient statement of work, making decisions regarding awards, balancing resources among programs, and verifying proper charging practices are followed
Managing member performance, creating and delivering performance evaluations, overseeing the salary review process, and supervising employee development and mentoring efforts (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
Coordinating with programs to ensure appropriate staffing/destaffing actions are developed and executed relative to their section, and managing employee movement between programs
Making sure members are familiar with and use required engineering processes and tools
Overseeing lab usage and lab compliance with sector procedures and guidance.
Meeting indirect budget targets and interpreting higher level guidance for implementation within the organization.
In addition to the people and lab management responsibilities described above, which are expected to account for an average of 50% of the candidates time as described below, the selected candidate will still perform most of his/her currently assigned project responsibilities. Tasking to be reassigned, if any, must be coordinated with candidate's current project lead.

South Bay Job
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an accredited institution
- A minimum of 5 years of experience related to lab activities involving lasers, sensors or optics
- Proven leadership, communication, program collaboration, and people development skills
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance with SSBI
- Familiarity with NGAS safety, technical and administrative processes and procedures is highly desired
- People/project management and engineering development experience
