Mechanical Technician Sr

Northrop Grumman, Rolling Meadows, IL has an opening for a Mechanical Technician who will assemble RF components for Manufacturing Operations to provide complex RF electrical components used primarily for military applications. Candidate will perform multiple mechanical assembly tasks associated with various fabrication applications/ processes. Tasks to be performed will be supported by following established work instructions and procedures. Candidate will additionally perform any rework of components following the established work instructions and procedures. Candidate will also need to input data into SAP as required. Candidate is also required to perform self-inspection of all produced hardware in accordance with statistical process or other and self-inspection training procedure. Must pass all job-specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or specialized assignments. May participate in program or functional team projects; i.e. process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling. Candidate will need to demonstrate solid mechanical aptitude and ability to work with prints/drawings and requires flexibility among different tasks within the process and area. Position requires good communication skills to facilitate an engaged team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to read simple drawing and prints.
  • Able to work on delicate electronic hardware using a variety of tools, with the aid of work instructions
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • US Citizenship required
  • Mechanical / Electrical experience or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 year technical degree and 1 year related experience
  • Understanding of high voltage, vacuum and laser equipment
  • Soldering experience, model making and mechanical abilities
  • SAP experience is a plus
