Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 (Section Manager)

Section Manager for Alignments section within Mechanical Test Engineering and Ground Support department of Systems Integration, Test & Evaluation organization. This position is the functional management portion (20%) of a dual role position where 80% must be fulfilled through program execution 80%. Program execution role may include current responsibilities in Alignments or Measurements Engineering or Mechanical Test Engineering on space programs.

The Section Manager will be responsible for functional management of 10-15 direct reports including non-exempt technicians as well as senior level exempt engineers. Routine functional responsibilities include:

  • Staffing measurement support to all space programs within the directorate
  • Performing performance reviews
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to the staff
  • Managing indirect and capital needs
  • Review and approval of timecards
  • Professional development and mentoring of direct reports

Supporting Functional Homeroom tasking which includes process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective and Preventive Action implementation

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math(STEM) field.

Minimum of 5 years related Aerospace Mechanical or Systems Engineering experience.

Some previous experience leading technical teams.

Must have an Active SCI or SSBI Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Prior hands-on experience using metrology tools such as Laser Trackers, Theodolites, Photogrammetry, Videogrammetry, or similar tools.

Must have an Active SCI or SSBI Clearance.

Experience developing alignments plans, leading measurements and analysis in a space manufacturing environment

Prior functional management or project leadership experience
