Manufacturing Operations Engineering Manager 2

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Engineering Manager 2 to join the Leadership Team.

The Manufacturing Operations Engineering Manager will have functional management responsibilities for a technical team of approximately 12 Manufacturing and Process Engineers. The team is responsible for leading design for manufacturing and automation; designing, creating and validating the tools, processes and work instructions required for assembly; and ensuring assembly personnel, processes and tools can achieve production requirements. The team is also responsible for monitoring and improving processes in regards to stability and target capability; proposing process improvements requiring investment; estimating program non-recurring/recurring tasks in support of requests for proposals; and managing the cost and schedule of investment projects and program tasks.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Personnel management including career development, employee engagement, time approval, staffing, and yearly reviews.
Oversight of direct report projects in developing or maintaining assembly processes.
Manufacturing process development, including all aspects of producibility, affordability, quality, technology roadmaps, and related activities.
Briefing of upper management, project management, and customers as required on process technology, product issue resolution, personnel development plans and status, organization issues/progress, etc.
Working with area management, subject matter experts, suppliers, etc. (as required) to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot and solve issues related to assembly.
Support the planning, coordinating of capital equipment and process development projects; financial budgets.

Qualifying candidates must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility operation; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must have a passion for people, innovation, and excellence and the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines to solve complex issues. MANUMS
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience
3 years of experience managing or leading people or projects
Manufacturing engineering experience including process control and control plan development
Demonstrated intermediate experience with project management tools and methods such as Microsoft Project (or equivalent)
Experience with cost and schedule accountability for projects
Demonstrated intermediate skills using Microsoft Excel and Minitab for process data analysis
Intermediate experience communicating and presenting data and complex concepts
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field
Experience in a manufacturing facility where electromechanical assembly is performed
Experience quoting processes for electromechanical products
Experience managing project schedules, earned value and budgetary spending
5 years of experience in the development of electronic products, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing processes
Engineering and industry experience designing mechanical and assembly tooling
Six Sigma Black belt/Green belt certification from an accredited program
Direct career experience working in a represented (union) manufacturing workforce environment
Experience with design for automation
Experience with digital information management
