Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Weld & Fabrication Process Area Manager based out of Sunnyvale, CA at our Marine Systems campus. Northrop Grumman Marines Systems specializes in the development; manufacturing, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems and propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines.

What You'll get to Do:
  • Manage approximately 15-17 hourly employees to meet contract delivery requirements.
  • Supervise shop personnel to ensure compliance with shop instructions, i.e. drawings, programs, tooling, manufacturing methods and QA documents with emphasis on weld processes.
  • Lead, guide, and direct the efforts of the team with the highest regard to safety and budget goals, which requires a fundamental understanding of the lean principals.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Procedures and Shop Paper Handbook.
  • Instill strong manufacturing practices in housekeeping set forth by Environmental Health and Safety and Fire Protection Departments.
  • Apply the Union and Company agreement to ensure compliance with the Company Policies and Procedures.
  • This is a three shift facility and the candidate selected may be required to work any shift.
  • Supervises employees who form and shape metal by various fabrication, machining, and/or welding processes.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university desired + 9 years of manufacturing experience; Master's degree + 7 years of manufacturing experience; PhD + 4 years of manufacturing experience (4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • Minimum of five years related experience in fabrication & assembly with emphasis in welding processes.
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge in Welding & NDT methods and processes.
  • Ability to work first/day shift or second/swing shift.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Related experience in machining, assembly and machine maintenance, etc.
  • Experience in supervising shop personnel responsible for milling, drilling, boring and turning of components on large and small controlled and manual machines.
  • Current, active security clearance.
