Manufacturing Engineer 3 (SECRET CLEARANCE)

Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) is an operating unit within the Communications division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. ATN seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to work at our Rancho Carmel facility located in San Diego, California.

Our expertise is in delivering complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the "equipment providers." Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

The Manufacturing Engineer designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant

facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

Also, the selected candidate will inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing

processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing

techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

ERCOMMS

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Science, Techology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline with 5 years experience; 2 years with MS
  • CAD design experience
  • Capable with statistical analysis software
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to work 2nd shift if needed
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • DoD Secret security clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience with SAP or other shop floor control system
  • Knowledgeable in data structures and database programming
  • Proficient in electronics equipment programming and maintenance
