Manager Systems Engineering 2 - Mechanical Analysis

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Manager Systems Engineering 2 - Mechanical Analysis. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the Mechanical Analysis Group within the Hardware Engineering Department at Undersea Systems. The primary functions of this role are to provide functional management of 12-15 engineers, technical leadership in the analysis of complex mechanical underwater systems, oversight and control of ongoing engineering projects and support for management of the larger Hardware Engineering Department including manpower, employee engagement and training.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in structural analysis, FEA, an understanding of design for manufacturing practices, developing engineering process, procedures and documentation for manufacturing, and an understanding of engineering s role for supporting small to medium production quantities.
The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast paced environment.

The position is located in Annapolis, MD.
Basic Qualifications:
A degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Marine or Ocean Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience. US citizen, an Interim Secret clearance to start and the ability and willingness to obtain a TS/SSBI and pass a polygraph.

Common knowledge in using some common structural analysis and FEA tool such as FEMAP, PATRAN, Workbench, NASTRAN, and Ansys. Common knowledge of MathCAD and Excel are also important for performing and reviewing hand calculations. Common knowledge of CAD systems such as NX, Autocad, etc. Common knowledge of fracture analysis tools, such NASGRO and AFGROW.

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency is use of tools listed above.
