The Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration & Test (MAI&T) Directorate is hiring a Mechanical Section Manager within the Antennas, Test Operations & Offsite Department. This position is located at Sunnyvale, CA and requires occasional travelto customer locations.

The Mechanical Section Managerwill provide functional management support to the Mechanical Test Operations (AEHF) Section. Functional duties will include managing a group of Mechanical Test Conductors, Mechanical Technicians, Mechanical Test Engineers and Hardware Management. Responsibilities include timecard approval, employee performance reviews, facilitating employee growth, and special assignments in support of the functional home room; coordinate mechanical assembly, integration, hardware/area management, and test operations for the AEHF Flights 4, 5 & 6 payloads. In addition to the functional role, this position also requires AEHF program Mechanical EngineeringIntegration and Testresponsibilities.

The selected candidate will partner with project management andSystems Integration, Test& Evaluation (SIT&E)Mechanical/Electrical functional management to define and implement a crew sharing approach that satisfies the staffing needs between programs and build a test operations culture that empowers employees, establishes personal and team accountability, motivates team performance, encourages development, and supports innovation. Additional responsibilities include ensuring personnel and hardware safety, driving compliance with policies and procedures including security, property management, calibration, training, configuration control, and test conduct.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math with5 years applicable experience
  • Experience with space mechanical subsystem, system assembly, integration and test
  • Understanding of mechanical execution, health and safety processes and procedures
  • ActiveDoD Secretclearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Able to manage and lead a team of technical exempt and not exempt employees
Background in Integration and test operations and familiarity with mechanical assembly and integration, environmental testing, and electrical integration and testing. Demonstrated ability to deliver hardware on time with high customer satisfaction. Prior project and functional management experience.
