Northrop Grumman is currently seekinga Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our Maintenance Team in our Clearfield, Utah location.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs, modifications and preventive maintenance on plant equipment such as cranes, MC machines, auto claves, vacuum systems, cooling towers, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining condition of parts in determining replacements
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Reduces downtime by performing emergency repairs in a timely manner and completion of paperwork for release of equipment back to production
  • Fabricates repair parts as needed using shop equipment and resources
  • Maintains maintenance equipment, parts, and supplies. Checks inventory levels of shop supplies to ensure resources are available to perform duties. Assists in determining inventory levels; anticipating needed equipment and parts
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information and expertise by answering questions and requests
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Interfaces with Reliability Engineers to relay pertinent information found during repairs and PM's related to their equipment to improve functionality and uptime
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Adheres to the clean as you go theory to ensure job sites are clean when jobs are completed. Strives to create an environment of continuous improvement to improve the overall effectiveness of the team
  • Maintains a positive attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed
  • Other duties to support entire Maintenance Team as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in a manufacturing industry in a maintenance capacity or as a Service Technician
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required
  • Knowledge and experience working with power tools
  • Basic ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints
  • Must be able to work weekend night shift
  • Must be able to work flexible and changing shift schedules
  • Must be able to work overtime as business need requires
  • Shift is as follows: Day shift, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • The shift rotates:
  • Week one - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week two - Thursday, Friday

  • High School diploma/GED required (education will be verified)
