Linux/Unix Systems Engineer 4 - TS/SCI

The Modernized Integrated Database (MIDB) is the primary repository for data production and dissemination of military intelligence involving worldwide orders of battle, facilities, command and control networks, targeting, battle damage assessments, futures, and other related information required for strategic assessment and national policy decision-making.

The System Engineering candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks to support the MIDB program to include day-to-day system administration of the MIDB servers; monitoring and maintaining the current MIDB data replication threads; supporting the installation of MIDB software upgrades; and assisting with maintaining MIDB data quality and releasability. The candidate will be required to occasionally work after hours to support customer exercises and will participate in an on-call rotation.

The potential candidate requires previous experience as a Linux System Administrator of medium to large server networks. System Administration tasking will include building, configuring, installing and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers; configuring and maintaining RHEL virtual and physical servers; installing, configuring, and monitoring the MIDB software; and installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining the Sybase ASE database and the Wildfly application server COTS to operate at an optimal level. The potential candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the current MIDB replication threads; troubleshooting replication data flow and database server issues; assisting MIDB sites with replication installations, upgrades, configuration and troubleshooting; coordinating replication upgrades with the MIDB community; and supporting tests of replication scripts and definitions. The candidate should have experience working in a team environment, demonstrate the ability to work independently, and possess the ability to work and communicate with the customer and technical staff at remote sites.

Tasking for this position will be performed in Hawaii and the candidate must possess an active TS/SCI and be Security Certified. Preference will be given to candidates with previous MIDB experience and knowledge of the MIDB data replication architecture including the data cross-domain capabilities. Preference will also be given to candidates with Sybase ASE Administrator and Sybase Replication Server Administrator certifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of experience with Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Masters with 7 years of experience, 13 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience as a UNIX and/or Linux Systems Engineering
  • Experience with installing application software in an operational environment
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain Polygraph
  • Security Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MIDB and the MIDB system architecture
  • Experience with installing and administering Sybase ASE database
  • Experience with Sybase Replication Server
  • Wildfly Application Server Administration
