Linux Systems Administrator 3/4 - (Secret)

Northrop Grumman Mission Systemsis seeking an experience Linux Administrator. The person in this role must have an in-depth knowledge of Linux or UNIX-like operating systems, including knowledge of operating system internals, aspects of the operating system that relate to networking and security, and a thorough understanding of system administration practices. They will use their expertise in these areas to participate in the development of a system that is hosted on Linux servers in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.

Their duties will include:
Increasing the degree of automation for both deployment and sustainment for the system.
Creation and maintenance of the Linux OS images that are the foundation for the server-based portion of the system, including the periodic application of security patches.
Support of software engineers by providing Linux operating system expertise in the diagnosis of incorrect system behavior, and in the configuration of OS resources to meet application-layer needs.
Coordination with security staff to facilitate the security scanning of servers at the system and application layers.
The development and maintenance of functionality, such as antivirus scanning of local file systems, that forms a part of the infrastructure that is the foundation for application-layer functionality.
Support for software development efforts through the development of Linux shell scripts.

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at level 3 or 4.

Linux Systems Administrator 3: Bachelors Degree plus 6 years of related experience, Masters Degree plus 4 year of related experience, 10 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Linux Systems Administrator 4: Bachelors Degree plus 10 years of related experience, Masters Degree plus 8 year of related experience, 14 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

- Active or current Secret level clearance.
- At least five years of demonstrated experience working directly with Linux or UNIX-like systems to provide system administration at the operating-system level and to provide support for software engineers in the development of applications hosted on the operating system.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of Linux shell scripts.

Preferred Qualifications:

- TS/SCI with full-scope poly.
- At least one year of demonstrated experience performing Linux or UNIX-like system administration and supporting the development of applications hosted on Linux or UNIX-like operation systems, where the resources for the system are provided through the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Demonstrated experience with DevOps Tools for the automation of building, deploying, securing, operating and maintaining Linux systems.
- At least one year of demonstrated experience performing Linux or UNIX-like system administration and supporting the development of applications hosted on Linux or UNIX-like operation systems, where the resources for the system are provided through the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience in the development of software written in the JAVA or Python languages.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Expertise in networking concepts and the configuration of network components such as firewalls and proxies.
- AWS certifications.
- Strong technical writing ability.
