Put your years of experience into a future of excellence… Northrop Grumman is seeking a Linux/Unix System Administrator to join our team in defining the future. This position will be located in Boulder, Colorado. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology Solutions team supporting the Sensor Exploitation Systems' Colorado Operations software development activities and several high visible Space programs managed within the Mission Systems Sector.
This position can be hired at as Level 3 Systems Analyst or a Level 4 Systems, depending upon years of experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:
System Administrators are responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining multi-purposed servers, as well as respond to and plan for service outages. Duties include creating/maintaining scripts for automation, project management for computer systems-related projects, collaborating with peer administrators, training junior administrators, and consulting for computer problems beyond the knowledge of engineering staff.

- Administration of classified *nix systems within strict security policies and procedures [STIG/DSS]
- Configuration & maintenance of Red Hat tools such as Identity Management (IPA) and Satellite Server
- OS installations and network configurations on servers and workstations
- Experience creating scripts using python or shell
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet/Chef/Ansible
- Experience with revision control software such as Git or subversion
- Experience creating spec files and building RPM's
- Experience with Kickstart and Satellite server a plus.
- Defining, understanding & implementing computer lab requirements.
- Perform technical research leading to solutions for system or software limitations
- COTS SW installation, configuration and maintenance (to include first-level application support for users)
- Creating accurate, detailed technical procedures & installation instructions
- DIACAP accreditation of classified systems, NISPOM, and participation in DSS audits
- Configure and administer virtual machines using VMware Vsphere 6.X
- Unix-to-Windows interoperability and configurations using Centrify
Ability to apply technical skills and experience in managing selected *nix servers and numerous workstations supporting highly skilled engineers working with advanced programming languages and algorithms. Manages and maintains a smooth operation of workstations while working with network, software, and hardware engineers that are remote and on site. Designs and develops server disaster recovery strategies. Ensures data integrity by evaluating, proposing, implementing and managing software and hardware solutions. Recommends and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management. Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
Level 3 Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors in Science degree; 3 years with Masters
- 3 - 5 years of IT professional experience with Unix, Linux, Solaris
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously
- Active Secret Clearance and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
Level 4 Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- 9 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science degree; 3 years with a Masters degree
- 7-9 years of IT professional experience with Unix, Linux, Solaris
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously
- Active Secret Clearance and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years Unix, Linux Red Hat 5.x/6.x, Solaris 10, and/or experience
- Active Security certification
- Must be able to work well within a team environment and able to adapt quickly to change
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Windows to UNIX interoperability; i.e., Samba and/or Exceed
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet/Chef/Ansible
- Single Sign on infrastructure utilizing Centrify
- RAID storage knowledge. (Preferably understanding of NetApp's DataOntap or C-Dot.)
- Good understanding of STIGs related to *nix systems
- Knowledge of NISPOM information system requirements, particularly Chapter 8
