Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Lead Lab Systems Test Engineer 5 - Autopilotto join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions:

  • Laboratory System Test Engineer that will perform technical oversight for all lab testing, test equipment, and integration of the air vehicle
  • Developing test procedures, testing nominal and off-nominal autopilot AV test cases, technical interactions with the suppliers, subsystem cognizant engineer, flight test planning, subsystem integration, and systems integration
  • Perform work without appreciable direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects
  • Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between multiple organizations

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of test engineering experience OR
  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of test engineering experience OR
  • PhD Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of test engineering experience
  • Minimum5 years of experience in several of the following areas: Vehicle Management Computer (VMC), Vehicle Management Systems (VMS), Sensors, Avionics, hardware, Integration, and/or Test
  • Minimum 5years of experience testing manned or unmanned aircraft (via labs, ground or flight testing)
  • A current DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain program access

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Program Access
  • Experiencein software/hardware testing or equivalent, particularly outlining test plans, defining necessary regression testing, and test case and procedure development and execution.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of automated software testing methodologies and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to meet very short deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively lead a small team through all phases of integration and test from design of test philosophy to delivery to the customer
  • Demonstrated the ability to lead timely resolution of technical issues by leveraging the appropriate mix of resources
  • Knowledge of the following tools, DOORS®, ViTech CORE, Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, VISIO®, CPLM, and Automated Testing (Python, C++, Java)
