Senior LCS Class Mission Module Maintenance Tech
NGC is seeking a Senior LCS Class Mission Module Maintenance Technician to lead the continuing development, promulgation and implementation of LCS Class Mine Countermeasures (MCM) program's Common Unmanned Surface Vessel (CUSV) and Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS) systems that will soon provide the LCS program with mine warfare sweep mission's capability. The UISS program provides rapid wide-area mine clearance to neutralize magnetic and acoustic sea mines in a small, lightweight package. The ideal candidate will have the requisite skills to complete sub-system diagnostics, provide extensive analysis and conduct pre-mission operational checks of the CUSV and UISS to insure system readiness prior to use, as well as support the maintenance and repair once deployed.

The candidate shall have demonstrated experience in hands-on maintenance and repair (corrective, preventive, planned), troubleshooting, fault isolation, checkout, inspection, and quality control on portable and stationary electrical and hydraulic systems, a major United States Naval vessels. Candidate shall be able to have thorough knowledge of blueprints, schematics, shop/trade practices, production control, safety and quality assurance. Candidates joining the NG team will be on the cutting edge of technology, and shall possess the technical knowledge and intuitive troubleshooting ability in the operation, maintenance and repair of electrohydraulic, hydro mechanical, and pneumatic systems and equipment.

In addition, the Senior Mission Module (MM) Field Technician will support the maintenance, repair and operation of all mission module equipment and machinery, such as 11m Rigid-hull Inflatable Boats (RIBs), and the 30mm Gun Weapons Systems, as well as other components of the MCM mission package. This includes technical support for MM equipment located at Naval Station Mayport (NSM) with travel to Naval Base San Diego County, Navy Base Ventura County (NBVC) Pt Hueneme, other Navy bases and deployed sites worldwide. Duties include:

  • Analyzes and evaluates equipment relative to specified performance parameters
  • Performs hands-on scheduled maintenance on MM equipment
  • Performs hands-on corrective maintenance, to include fault isolation
  • Installs and removes MM equipment from US Navy ships
  • Maintains effective customer communications and relationships
  • Collaborates with customers/suppliers for technical and supply support
  • Provides flyaway team maintenance and installation support to various sites, both CONUS and OCONUS, when required
  • Provides Logistics support
General Description: Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personne l.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • 14 or more years of experience operating and maintaining Navy equipment such as small craft and weapons systems, main propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, or diesel engines on US Navy/Coast Guard Vessels, Army Tanks, Special Warfare Combatant Craft (SWCC) or Army Corp of Engineers Landing Craft is required
  • Experience in Material Management (i.e., use of the 3M system), Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance
  • High School Diploma
  • US Citizenship; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work, to include working in tight, restricted access spaces
  • Must be able to climb 20 ft ladders and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist level
  • Must be able to pass basic DOT physical exam to obtain forklift and crane licenses and pass proficiency tests

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Up to 20 years maintaining Navy Small Craft and Gun Weapons Systems, main propulsion, auxiliary machinery, diesel engines on US Navy/Coast Guard Vessels, Army Tanks, SWCC or Army Corp of Engineers Landing Craft
  • Experience on LCS Class ships highly desired
  • Experience with 11m Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats; operator and maintainer qualifications desired
  • Experience with 30mm guns on LPD-17 Class, USMC Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) or similar chain guns is highly desired
  • Knowledge of Surface Warfare (SUW) and Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations and systems
  • Experience in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Licensed Forklift Operator
