Lab Systems Test Engineer 3 - Flight Card Developer

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Lab Systems Test Engineer 3 Flight Card Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain program access
  • Synthesize customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints
  • Develop and direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems
  • Coordinate integrated testing activities
  • Review and evaluate test requirements to insure completeness of test program
  • Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system level evaluations
  • Perform requirements analysis and decomposition including developing derived requirements as needed to test the system
  • Develop test equipment and simulation requirements
  • Develop Testability Requirements
  • Support Systems Engineering to develop Verification Cross Reference Matrices
  • Develop Test Planning Detail Sheets
  • Develop Test Plans and Detailed Procedures
  • Support Test Equipment Checkout and System Integration
  • Support Test Execution as First Line Troubleshooter
  • Perform as the hardware responsible engineer for the subsystem under test
  • Perform technical interactions with the system test team to ensure system requirements are being verified
  • Write Test Reports
  • Support troubleshooting of issues discovered during subsystem and system level testing

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of test engineering experience OR
  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of test engineering experience OR
  • PhD Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas is required: systems development experience; air vehicle failure modes and effects (FMET) testing, air vehicle subsystems testing, knowledge of architectures, Mission Systems, Mission Planning, Communications, Data links, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, Integration, and/or Test
  • Demonstrated experience testing manned or unmanned aircraft (via labs, ground or flight testing)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop, execute, and maintain system test procedures for a complex subsystem/system
  • A current DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Weapon System Engineering Integration and Test (WSEIT) laboratory testing manned and/or unmanned aircraft subsystems or systems
  • Test experience related to FMET, Airworthiness, Flight Controls, and/or Vehicle Management Systems
  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhDdegree in Electrical Engineering orComputer Engineering
  • Design and Systems Engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: Structures, Flight Technology, Air Vehicle Subsystems, Avionics, Mission Payload Integration, System Safety, Lab Test, or Flight Test
  • Knowledge of the following tools, DOORS®, ViTech CORE, Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, VISIO®, CPLM, and Automated Testing (Python, C++, Java).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
