The C2BMC Software and Digital Technology team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Java/C++ Software Engineer based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

What You'll get to Do:
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Software development in the Java language
  • Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system.
  • Designs, codes, tests and implements tools for operations automation. Works on most phases of software systems programming applications

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline and 2 years of related work experience.
  • Must have active Secret clearance
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented development and OO principles
  • Experience developing OO solutions in Java/J2EE or C++
  • Experience and knowledge of the software engineering lifecycle, coding standards, and configuration management
  • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance, perform root cause analysis around performance issues, and recommend a solution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to work independently and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Experience in Missile Defense and command and control (C2) system application development
  • Experience in Radar Modeling algorithms including
    • Signal-to-noise Ratio (SNR) and probability of detection
    • Track Accuracy
  • Experience in Threat Modeling using the software tool TGx
  • RADAR cross section (RCS) characterization
  • Computational geometry (WGS-84 / LLA coordinate conversion, orbital mechanics)
  • Kalman filtering
  • MATLAB experience
  • Familiarity with Java foundational classes and Java toolkits
  • Familiarity with software development IDE and tools such as Clearcase and Eclipse
  • Experience with SysML, UML, Use Case diagrams, etc.
