Java Software Engineer 3/4 (Mid-Sr.)- Ability to obtain TS/SCI

The Modernized Integrated Database (MIDB) is the primary repository for data production and dissemination of military intelligence involving worldwide orders of battle, facilities, command and control networks, targeting, battle damage assessments, futures, and other related information required for strategic assessment and national policy decision-making. This position is specifically for the continued development, upgrade, and maintenance of a customized Cross Domain solution being utilized by the MIDB program.

The Software Developer candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks to support the MIDB program to include: Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems. Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions. The candidate should be able to expeditiously familiarize themselves with a legacy J2EE application. The candidate shall strictly adhere to processes for security accreditation and certification.

Preference will be given to candidates with previous MIDB experience.

Depending on experience, this position may be filled at a level 3 or 4.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Level 3 Engineer: Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or related technical discipline with 5 or more years of relevant experience; Masters of Science in Computer Science or related technical discipline with 3 year of experience, 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Level 4 Engineer: Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or related technical discipline with 9 or more years of relevant experience; Masters of Science in Computer Science or related technical discipline with 7 year of experience, 13 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • Experience with Unix-like operating systems (e.g. Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
  • Able to function in multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment and rapidly adapt to changing work priorities
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge or experience with Java, the Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) platform, software build tools (e.g. Apache Ant) and relational databases (e.g. Sybase ASE, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with JSPs and javascript libraries such as JQuery
  • Experience with GIS - OpenLayers, GeoServer, ArcGIS
  • Web Service development - SOAP and ReST
  • Active TS/SCI
