IC Design Manager Engineering 2 - Advanced Capabilities Hardware Engineering

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Advanced Capabilities sector is leading development of next generation high performance computing systems for Cyber and Intelligence Mission Solutions (CIMS). These systems are designed using our patented superconducting digital logic technology - Reciprocal Quantum Logic (RQL). On a gate for gate basis, RQL consumes orders of magnitude less power than CMOS while running at significantly higher clock speeds. Having demonstrated its performance with basic circuits, Northrop Grumman is advancing the technology in development of processors, memory subsystems, and large scale high performance computing systems.
The Cyber and Intelligence Mission Solutions (CIMS) Advanced Capabilities sector is seeking Integrated Circuit (IC) design engineering managers to join its growing hardware engineering organization. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities.
The circuit design engineering manager will support a team designing Superconducting Electronics RQL Integrated Circuits for high performance computing applications. Group skill sets include requirements definition, circuit schematic design, circuit simulation, EM modeling, circuit physical design/layout, physical and electrical verification, design verification testing, and production support.
This position is a dual role encompassing both people and project/technical leadership.
•Lead an Integrated Circuit Design functional team of 10 to 15 engineers
•Provide general management, motivation, guidance, and support to assigned staff including performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
•Provide project and technical oversight for design activities performed by the team
•Maintain and ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the team
•Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
•Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups
•Support department initiatives, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, and internally funded projects
This position is located in Baltimore, MD. This position will report to the manager of Advanced Capabilities Hardware Engineering within the CIMS Advanced Capabilities Engineering department.
•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree
•Minimum 7 years of related engineering experience including responsibility as an integrated product team or technical lead
•Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Basic understanding of Integrated Circuit design
•Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance per business requirements. US Citizenship is a requirement of this
•Master's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent
•12 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
•Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader
•RF and analog mixed signal IC design, PDK development, Cadence IC tool experience
•Current, active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI with Polygraph
