Northrop Grumman is seeking a Helpdesk/Data Center Technician to join our Enterprise Shared Services Support team in Melbourne ,FL. The position provides day-to-day helpdesk and operational support for a new Strategic Systems program Data Center.
A successful candidate will have technical skills that demonstrate a strong understanding of Helpdesk operations, the ability to effectively communicate with interpersonal skills, resolves technical problems and answers queries by telephone in support of internal customer computer hardware, software, network, and telecommunications systems, excellent problem solving skills, and will contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable. Alerts management to recurring problems and patterns of problems.

Applicants should display excellent technical problem solving skills, a solid understanding of Windows server operating systems, end-user support in an Active Directory environment and general understanding of LAN/WAN networking. This position will also play a significant local support presence in tasks workflow and implementation, coordination of both Prod/Dev support, and act as a local technical point of contact for Data Center infrastructure related requests and issues.
Function as a 1st shift member of the team responsible for 24×7×365 helpdesk operations and Data Center monitoring in a mission critical enterprise environment.
Serve as a Data Center point of contact facilitating Incident Management process.
Provide technical support for the Physical/Virtual server infrastructure, incident, change and problem management ticketing systems, including operating system security & patch management.
Responsible for equipment life cycle management, including the installation (racking,cabling,labeling), configuration, and upgrade of equipment in a multi-platform environment consisting of Microsoft Windows, and Linux. Analyze and document the status of operation equipment in data center equipment to include servers, routers, and switches.
Provide escort to un-cleared personnel or vendors in order to remediate outages, equipment failures or contracted installations.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
Maintain, update, and disseminate Standard Operating Procedures. Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and comprehensively to senior leadership and technical experts.
Have strong organization and time-management skills, a “can-do” attitude, and the ability to multi-task; comfortable with changing priorities.
Have outstanding customer service experience working to meet SLAs in an ITIL environment.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously.
Train new support technicians and ensure they are self-sufficient in a timely manner
Basic Qualifications:
AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience
Must have an Active Secret Clearance
Must have a CompTIA Security certification or equivalent IA baseline.
Have a general understanding of servers and hardware (Windows, Unix, Linux, Cisco).
The ability to lift 50 pounds and the ability to work from ladders to install equipment and cabling as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Maintains an Active Top Secret Clearance
- A and Network , a plus
- Microsoft Certification such as MCP, MCSE or MCSA.
- Have proven experience supporting a fast-paced 24×7 production environment.
