Heavy Fuel Engine Technician 2
Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. Exclude technicians working in Production or Quality Assurance.
Conducts all maintenance and build-up of the heavy fuel engine (HFE) propulsion system and assembly of HFE engines, must be able test run engines and alternators. Have knowledge in mechanical and electrical trouble shooting be able to diagnoses malfunctions and perform maintenance on diesel engines, experience in reading drawings and able to work off procedures. Experience in replacing engine components; such as fuel pumps, fuel injectors, turbo chargers alternators, starters, relays, clutch shoes, and engine mounts. This mechanic maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records, practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times. Works wells in a team environment and can take direction.
- AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience. Will consider HS degree and 4 years EXP.
- US Citizenship; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Minimum of two (2) years actual and recent experience in maintenance, repair, modification, and corrosion control of aviation support equipment is required. Proficiency in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical, diesel engine and engine overhaul. Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and demonstrate the ability to use a computer to order parts, research data, and document maintenance electronically is required.
- Aviation and/or GSE equipment experience preferred.
