Northrop Grumman Space Systems Communications is seeking a creative Graphic Designer with a deep understanding of data visualization, presentation, infographics, and brand compliance, who specializes in presenting complex data in visually compelling, understandable, and informative ways to join our team in Dulles, VA.

In this job, you will:
  • Use computer-based graphics software with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint and Adobe Creative programs to conceive, design and layout executive level marketing communications material, graphics and presentations for use across multiple channels.
  • Design a variety of material such as presentations, announcements, webpages, brochures, handbooks, posters, special event graphics, pamphlets, data sheets, and other digital material as needed.
  • Work directly with senior/executive leadership to prepare presentations, slides and other executive level marketing communication material.
  • Conceive, design and illustrate complex information and editorial renderings, graphs and other forms of illustration.
  • Possess expertise in translating facts and features of subject material into graphics concepts that best convey intended meaning.
  • Help to improve processes for presenting complicated messages and data in an easy-to-digest format for a variety of audiences.
  • Provide full-scope graphics project coordination including schedules, storyboards, script writing and visual strategy in conjunction with internal and external teams.
  • Support the sector brand lead in implementing brand initiatives and assist in providing guidance to a wide variety of sources on the corporate brand and logo system, ensuring compliance with Northrop Grumman brand standards.
  • Adhere to existing processes for delivering communications content across all channels.
  • Participate in creating material for and populating sector material in the Digital Access Management System.
  • Use digital camera for still photography and videography.
  • Photograph persons and other subjects and edit as required for promotion, marketing, publicity, internal communications , and special events.
  • Provide input on reproduction and printing processes through in-house resources or outside vendors if necessary.
  • Work with sector communications leadership to ensure messaging activities are aligned to communications goals.
The candidate will have a direct working relationship with senior/executive level staff. As such, this person must be detail oriented, have exceptional and executive level communication and people skills, a positive attitude and demeanor, and be a self-starter with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues across the Northrop Grumman enterprise.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. A hybrid working arrangement of working six days on site and four days remote per pay period is an option.

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution with 6+ years of related professional Graphics/Communications experience - OR - a Master's degree with 4+ years of related professional experience. An additional four years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution with 10+ years of related professional Graphics/Communications experience - OR - a Master's degree with 8+ years of related professional experience. An additional four years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
Additional Basic qualifications for both levels:
  • Expertise in Microsoft: PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Microsoft Teams; Adobe: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.
  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment.
  • Experience taking a project from concept to delivery with little supervision.
  • A talent for data visualization and info graphics.
  • Experience working with executive or C-level leadership in a communications capacity.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects independently and simultaneously.
  • Portfolio of work showcasing the applicant's graphic design & data visualization capabilities.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in After Effects, Premiere, Encore, Bridge.
  • Experience photographing (still and video) to include editing.
  • Aerospace and Defense experience.
Salary Range: $78,500 USD - $117,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $97,400 USD - $146,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
