Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in San Diego,CA has an immediate opening for a Senior AVMechanical Design Integrator 5to work on an exciting new program.

Essential Functions:

  • Regularly taking a leadership role in providing insight and knowledge transfer to others on internal and external technical solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Coordinate with the SEIT team to ensure requirements are flowed to the AV sub-teams and are understood/incorporated at the subsystem responsible engineer (RE) level.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction and mentoring to other technical employees in the application of scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results.

  • Serve as primary technical liaison to other Engineering Teams, PM, Chief Engineer, Japan GH Program Office, government representatives, and sub-contractors.

  • Provide technical coordination between the teams internal to the AV (e.g. Airframe, Subsystems, Wire Harness Design, D&DT and Weight & Balance, etc).

  • Support engineering task planning, organizing, coordination of schedules, and capturing/documenting of program requirements and deliverables.

  • Maintain and track AV configuration in support of deliverables.

  • Respond to manufacturing requests internal and external and provide dispositions and solutions for MRB tags and RCIs and ECRs.

  • Will be responsible for DOA activities of related FMS programs, such as ROK.

  • Host Internal AV drawing reviews as required to ensure that program design requirements are fully addressed.

  • Support review and approval of engineering design changes and modifications.

  • Perform engineering modeling and drafting as required to meet schedule and respond to changes in staffing of lower level engineers.

  • Maintain Interface Control Document configuration, including provide ICD status, latest ICD, and coordinate with owning entity for any ICD Changes/corrections/etc. Example given: Raytheon Waveguide and Integrated Radar Processor ICDs.

  • Support engineering task planning, organizing, coordination of schedules, and capturing/documenting of program requirements and deliverables.
    Provide technical leadership and coordinate with AV team for the following: Engineering Review Boards
    (ERB), Change Control Boards (CCB), Program Change Boards (PCB), System Requirements Review (SRR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Program Management Review (PMR), Technical Review Board (TRB) internal AV Design Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Interface Control Working Groups (ICWG)).

  • Work the Script 2.0 to coordinate with AV cost account managers (CAMs) and schedulers to ensure the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) is consistent with Program required deliverables.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) from a nationally accredited school
  • 9+ Years of experience in aircraft design engineering.
  • Must haveexperience with the Global Hawk or Triton Unmanned Aircraft
  • Experience with Electrical Wire Harness Design and Integration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with the design engineering process, particularly the input requirements for vehicle integration engineering
  • Experience in and a strong understanding of configuration control and CM practices.
  • Experience with project scheduling, Proposal development (Basis of Engineering Estimate), drawing schedule negotiations, and part delivery
  • 20+ Years of experience in aircraft design engineering.
  • Experience and knowledge of engineering leadership
  • Knowledge of aerospace program management
  • Strong familiarity with various systems and subsystems of the GH platform, including primary structures.
  • Mastery of CATIA V5, and TeamCenter Lifecycle Management and able to mentor junior engineers with both, as well as execute changes if required.
  • Design experience of military or commercial aerospace platforms with focus on payload integration and packaging.
  • Design and coordination of DMS designs that provide backwards compatible paths for future GH program changes.
  • Experience using DOORs for requirements management.
  • Demonstrated ability for "System Thinking"
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure all team members have continual access to latest required design details.
  • Experience with Military or Commercial airworthiness certification, particularly with international/FMS systems, from a Vehicle Engineering standpoint.
