GCSS-Army Quality Software Engineer 2/3

Job Description:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse Individuals. This position will be located in Richmond, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army).

The selected candidate must have Information Systems or similar degree and experience, must be result oriented with practical experience and success incorporating Quality Process Management principles.

As a member of the Test and Evaluation Team and reporting to the Test and Evaluation Manager, the successful candidate will participate in code and document analysis; and quality assessment and reporting. The candidate will develop scripts and support tools, documents, tests and may debugs applications software. As part of an AGILE process, the candidate will assess and analyze ABAP code from specifications provided by the functional experts on the project. He/she will analyze software capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, evaluate programming techniques and controls from a quality perspective, and will prepare operating instructions. The candidate will use project software tool such as ABAP Test Cockpit and CAST, code analysis tool, to ensure that software quality standards are followed throughout the landscape. The candidate will also conduct Dual Maintenance activities to ensure that the project software landscape configuration is consistent. The candidate will also review and audit processes and software related documents and specifications.

Key Competencies and Core Functions:

Member of the Quality Engineering Team focused on GCSS-Army SAP code quality with a working knowledge of SAP ABAP and code quality techniques.

  • Provides code, configuration and development analysis
  • Provides quality validation of technical documentation and code
  • Communicates status and issue to Test leadership
  • Analyzes error trends and propose resolutions to prevent further incidents
  • Documents and communicate needed changes as it relates to the respective development areas
  • Analyzes coding performance using code analysis tools and scripting
  • Work with the other project team members and leadership to ensure integration and consistency
  • Review current process and procedures associated with technical implementation and provide process improvements and technique strategies
  • Review and validate code quality, functional and technical design, documentation for alignment with the final product/ solution

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3.

Basic Qualifications for a level 2 are:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a position of Public Trust
  • Must be able to possess an Army issued National Agency Check with Law and Credit (NACLC)
  • Minimum Education / Experience: 2 Years with Bachelors in science, 0 Years with Masters
  • Minimum (2) years of SAP ABAP development and/or SAP Workflow
  • Experience in SAP ABAP programming tools including report and transaction creation
  • Experience in principles and techniques of code analysis as well as program documentation
  • Ability to interface with developers and functional analysts to ensure the proper integration of business processes and procedures
  • Strong background and expertise in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Ability to execute processes as documented and follows governance processes
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and establish priorities related to an assignment and the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal business/technical teams and external consultants
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ABAP/4, JAVA, SQL, XML
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance processes

  • Ability to interface with developers and functional analysts to ensure the proper integration of business processes and procedures
