GCSS-Army Cutover SAP ABAP Developer 3/4

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking an SAP ABAP Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) Program in Richmond, VA.

The SAP ABAP Programmer will apply advanced technical knowledge in the programming, testing, and debugging of SAP modules. Proficiency in SAP ABAP programming is a critical component of the position. SAP ABAP Developer will be required to perform systems analysis, design, and programming duties involving highly complex computer applications and programs; and provide technical direction to programming personnel on a project-by-project basis.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and code difficult and complex programs for SAP modules
  • Develop test data and analyze problems in programs
  • Articulate difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, recognize the critical elements of the application problems, develop and evaluate data, determine solutions and make logical recommendations
  • Prepare / create comprehensive and thorough technical program documentation including specifications, test conditions, test plans, test data, etc. as required by the program and the SAP Functional manager
  • Code SAP modules and complex functions using ABAP programming language
  • Code SAP classes and methods using object oriented programming
  • Create, manipulate and troubleshoot IDOC's
  • Implement SAP code using BAPI's, BAdI's, and Enhancement Points
  • Create specialized reports for SAP modules using ABAP programming language
  • Design forms for SAP modules using SAPscript , Smart Forms and/or Adobe Forms
  • Troubleshoot and correct SAP module problems by using ABAP programming language to implement OSS notes.
  • Modify system screens to provide default values and eliminate unnecessary fields using transaction variants
  • Interface with business analysts to ensure the proper integration of business processes and procedures to information technology
  • Assist in defining technical requirements for on-going systems maintenance and future functionality.
  • Provide technical support to users on matters related to the programming of SAP modules
  • Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with process owners

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualifications for a level 3 are:

US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust.

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters.
  • 5 years of experience in SAP ABAP programming (Enhancements, Interfaces, Reports & Forms).
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge of SAP ABAP Programming Tools including Report and Transaction creation.
  • Interfaces, Enhancements, Conversion Programs, SAPscript, and Smart Forms.
  • Application of OSS notes.
  • Principles and techniques of systems analysis, design and testing.
  • Principles of program documentation.
  • Principles of report, screen, and form design.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABAP Experience
  • Basic knowledge of system administration, security, backup and restore processes.
  • Experience or knowledge in Army logistics systems (e.g. Force Element structure).
  • Experience working on a government or military project.
  • Active DoD security clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a level 4 are:

US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust.

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • 9 years of experience in SAP ABAP programming (Enhancements, Interfaces, Reports & Forms).
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge of SAP ABAP Programming Tools including Report and Transaction creation.
  • Interfaces, Enhancements, Conversion Programs, SAPscript, and Smart Forms.
  • Application of OSS notes.
  • Principles and techniques of systems analysis, design and testing.
  • Principles of program documentation.
  • Principles of report, screen, and form design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or knowledge in Army logistics systems (e.g. Force Element structure).
  • Experience working on a government or military project.
  • Active DoD security clearance.
