GCSS-Army Automation Engineer Systems Test 3/4

Job Description:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking an Automation Engineer Systems Test to join our team of qualified, diverse Individuals. This position will be located in Richmond, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army).

The GCSS-Army project is looking for a highly skilled individual to support SAP Test and Evaluation activities. The individual must have good interpersonal skills. Working with a large group of diverse business process specialists will be a daily occurrence. Verification and validation will be performed as part of all GCSS-Army Test Cycles. This position leads, develops and executes comprehensive automated test scenarios for a complex enterprise system. Automated Integration and regression testing activities will be coordinated with project resources, trading partners, and Government counterparts.

This position will report to the Test and Evaluation Manager. Responsibilities include: testing software and business process functionality, testing interfaces, testing Help Desk Tickets (HDT) for sustainment. This position may also require participation in and preparation for Government Tests, if required, as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Key Competencies and Core Functions:

  • Experience in the preparation of automated test scenarios, and test scripts.
  • Ability to generate automated test scenarios via HP Application Lifecycle Management (HP ALM)) and Unified Functional Testing (UFT).
  • Test programs that address database impacts and software scenarios. Perform regression testing, error or bug retests or usability. Document software defects using HP QC, and report defects to software developers.
  • Participate in requirements and business process discussions and demonstrations. Determine if identified scenarios are adequate to verify or validate application design, build and implement components for SAP for the Army.
  • Present test status to Project Management as required.
  • Collaborates with System Engineering, Mission Assurance, PMO, Sustainment and Software functional team's leads to help resolve issues, mitigate risks and implement test solutions.
  • Communicate with Software Developers to provide and receive SME logistical knowledge related to the business process. Provide acceptable resolutions for problem areas within the application. System analysis skills are a must.
  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content. Study, analyze, test, implement & maintain application software. Provide input on functional requirements, schedules and potential problems.
  • Review current process and procedures associated with technical implementation and provide process improvements and technique strategies.
  • Review requirements, functional and technical design, test plans, and test case scenarios for alignment with the final product/solution.
  • Communicate with Software Developers to provide and receive SME logistical knowledge related to the business process. Provide acceptable resolutions for problem areas within the application. System analysis skills are a must. Collaboration with the customer and other stakeholders is a necessity.
  • Present test status to Project Management as required.
  • Participate in requirements and business process discussions and demonstrations. Determine if identified scenarios are adequate to verify or validate application design, build and implement components for SAP for the Army.
  • Responsible for preparing comprehensive reports on testing progress/issues and remedial action.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualifications for an Engineer Systems Test 3 are:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust.
  • Minimum Education / Experience: 5 Years' experience in Software Development Lifecycle, with Bachelor of Science, or 3 Years with Masters
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of Automation testing experience.
  • Oversees tests to ensure that performance and quality products conform to established policy and standards
  • Working knowledge of HP ALM.
  • 3 Year Hands on Experience developing test scripts with HP UFT and or QTP.
  • Working knowledge of Integration and Test methodologies.
  • Ability to incorporate individual contributions to automation repository.
  • Excellent knowledge in designing & implementing customized test automation frameworks as needed.
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with and supporting the development of an overall Test Plan and tailored test plans for each release.
  • Must have a familiarity with writing database scripts for backend validation.
  • Effective communication, writing and presentation skills a must
  • Ability to run effective meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Must be able to work independently and be a team player.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with cross-functional project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience with HP Loadrunner or Performance center
  • Understanding of business processes
  • Experience with Army maintenance, supply, warehouse, property book and finance systems

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 9 Years' experience in Software Development Lifecycle, with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of Automation testing experience.

  • Working knowledge of HP ALM.
  • 3 Year Hands on Experience developing test scripts with HP UFT and or QTP.
