Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah. This position will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You'll Get to Do:
You will provide technical oversight and leadership for all electrical design activities for the Guidance Computer (GC) flight and Emulator Units (GCEU). The GC is a high reliability, radiation hardened flight controller for the GBSD Aerospace Vehicle (AVE). The GCEU is a COTS-based hardware emulation of the GBSD AVE flight GC used in various laboratory testbed applications for early system and software Integration & Test activities. The GBSD Guidance Computer contains digital processing, digital I/O, and analog actuator/power I/O electronics functions. You will be responsible for all aspects of the unit electrical design. The scope spans requirements derivation, design, development, analysis, verification, and production of hardware, plus laboratory and test lab support. You will work with a subcontractor providing processing hardware and will lead a team of electrical designers performing detailed board, FPGA, ASIC, and test set designs. This position reports directly to the Guidance Computer IPT manager.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a STEM discipline with minimum 14 years' experience, or Master's of Science with 12 years of experience; 9 years with a PhD
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary electronic design team
  • Experience identifying unit level requirements and associated derivation/flow down of requirements to internal unit subassemblies
  • Experience designing, implementing, and verifying unit level electronic hardware
  • Experience working with and transitioning hardware designs into the manufacturing and production environment
  • Experience developing and/or performing verification and/or test plans and procedures
  • Experience preparing for and participating in design reviews
  • Experience designing electronics hardware for Radiation Hardened Space Flight applications
  • Experience designing and testing to compliance standards such as SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-461
  • Earned Value and/or Cost Account Management (CAM) experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
  • Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
