Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for aFire Protection Engineerto join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and will;

  • Assist in developing and implementing fire protection programs and procedures in an attempt to eliminate personnel injury and/or property damage due to fire and explosion.
  • Participate in the implementation of programs and procedures to ensure employee and facility safety is in accordance with all OSHA, NFPA and Life Safety Code requirements.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of building and fire protection codes and regulations to assure compliance. Surveys specific facilities to determine potential fire hazards and recommends corrective action.
  • Review documents required for new construction or modification of existing facilities to determine appropriate fire prevention.
  • Participate in inspecting, testing and maintaining fire protection systems and equipment to ensure that in an emergency they operate and perform to standards.
  • Assist in the investigation of any fire to determine the origin, cause, and what, if any, breakdown in the fire protection plans and procedures may have occurred.
  • Maintain records and prepares reports on fire investigations. Participates in fire fighter and first aid/CPR training.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's ScienceDegree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related program of study and 2 years of experience.
  • Experience with plans review, design and construction of new and existing facilities, fire alarm, suppression and life safety systems.
  • Experience in special extinguishing, suppression and alarm systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaborations skills with all levels of an organization are a must.
  • Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in building and fire code enforcement.
