Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in Redondo Beach, CA has an opening for a F-35 Mission Systems IPT Software Manager 3, who will work with the F-35 Chief Engineer and Air Vehicle Engineering Director.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to a diverse team of individuals with responsibilities of capturing new proposals, developing and delivering software of External Communications, Mission Data Collections, Sensor Employment, and Prognostic Health Management for the F-35 Mission Systems Prime Software domains.

Essential Functions:

  • Work collaborative and with influence to gain commitment and performance from all organizations including the Joint Program Office and Program customers, Business Operations and Contracts, System Design, Integration and Test, as well as other Prime Software domains as needed to drive required business outcomes.
  • Shape the future business and develop strategies that strive to bring the best value to the program.
  • Ensures contracts are properly scoped to authorize and conduct all Mission Systems Software responsibilities with maximum efficiency.
  • Responsible for earned value (cost, schedule, technical performance) of the F-35 contracts
  • Lead SOW within program budgets, maintain appropriate performance assessment and control, establish milestones and monitor consistency to master schedule, ensure on-schedule delivery of products to contract requirements and quality standards, utilize risk management to identify program problems and develop solutions.
  • Responsible for supporting F-35 proposals, assisting the negotiation of work content with the customer and building performance baseline plans.
  • The Software Manager is expected to provide leadership and management of a team of software engineers from the Software Directorate to ensure horizontal technical integration across the F-35 Mission Systems Software IPTs.
  • The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring staffing needs are met; provide develop, hire, and retain effective software engineers and is the primary interface to the Palmdale Center of Excellence Software Directorate.
  • Develop and maintain roadmaps for software development, leads preparation of, and approves software technical and cost inputs for all new proposals and ECPs to achieve program goals.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
-Minimum of 7 years ofexperience in industry software development applications
- Familiarity withall phases of the software development life cycle
- Software Project Manager or Integrated Product Team Lead experience inindustry applications includingEarned Value Management (EVMS) experience
- Active DoD Secret witha background investigation within the scope of six years
- Ability toobtain and maintain all required security clearances and program specific accesses including the ability to be upgraded to a SAP Advanced Program clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced STEM degree is a plus
- Experience using model driven development tools (Rhapsody) and real-time operating systems (Integrity, VxWorks)
- Experience with prime subcontracts roles and relationships
- Fluent in C++, Object Oriented Design
- Familiarity with communication protocols, tactical data links (MIL-STD-188-220 and MIL-STD-6016)
- Working knowledge of Prime Mission Systems Software
- Experience in complete software development life-cycle and demonstrate knowledge of embedded systems
- Experience in the Agile process
- Experience in CMMI Level 5 processes
- Candidate will be expected to have excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Current Special Program Access
