Environmental Sustainability Associate

Northrop Grumman's Environmental Sustainability Program, greeNG, has an immediate opening on the Corporate Program Team for an Environmental Sustainability Associate. The successful candidate has a passion for the environment, is knowledgeable in and has an educational background within sustainability, and is seeking a role where they can gain experience across the full spectrum of corporate environmental sustainability activities.

The Environmental Sustainability Associate is a generalist position; with opportunities to support and lead initiatives across all areas of the Program within Northrop Grumman. The Associate will collaborate with our business unit and site teams to drive performance towards the company's environmental sustainability goals and will also support activities focused on overall Program management and strategy development. The Associate's responsibilities will evolve as individual interests materialize, new opportunities arise, Program priorities shift, or new trends emerge.

Key functional responsibilities include:

Lead the environmental sustainability metrics reporting process from annual planning to quarterly performance tracking
Lead the overall management of the solid waste program including execution of solid waste diversion initiatives, data collection and review, and protocol management
Conduct research and evaluate emerging trends and perform benchmarking to drive continuous evolution of the Program and support the development of strategies for our beyond 2020 framework
Be a secondary administrator on our environmental data management system and promote further use of system capabilities across the Program
Lead or support other Program initiatives within areas such as internal communications, external disclosures, water footprint management, government relations

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science degree in a related discipline
Proven ability to collaborate and build teams across multiple domains
Strong verbal, written, and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite), including the creation and delivery of professional presentations
Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan, and execute in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results
Must be able to travel and work out of the office

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree with an environmental sustainability, environmental sciences and/or engineering focus
Prior experience in supporting environmental sustainability initiatives within a corporation
Must exhibit willingness to stay current with new developments in environmental sustainability
Experience in a manufacturing and production environment
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, interpersonal skills, communication, and engage in continuous learning
