Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Advisory-level Software Engineer and Algorithm Designer to join the Mission Planning and Execution Systems (MPES) Department located in Melbourne, FL. MPES is focused on supporting advanced development in areas of real time mission management and mission planning for manned and unmanned aircraft systems.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provides team leadership and advice for design, development, and implementation of applications software and systems
  • Designs and documents system algorithms that contain mathematical and logical solutions
  • Develops advanced, automated, real-time complex problem solving Mission Planning software for manned and unmanned applications
  • Provides team leadership and advice in Agile development methodologies and practice
  • Interfaces with program management and customers to determine mission and security needs; deliver and support mission-specific solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Degree)
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance, adjudicated within last 5 years

o Ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP)

  • Possess strong mathematics and algorithm development skills

o Algorithm development experience using MATLAB

  • Able to function in multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment; rapidly adapt to changing work priorities
  • Broad practical experience across multiple technical applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer presentations
  • Applies technical concepts and theories to engineer innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Provides direction and mentorship to engineering staff members
  • Advises management and customers on available applications for technical solutions
  • Experience with MS Windows applications and proficient in the use of MS Office software
  • Experienced user for Windows, Linux/Unix, and Real-Time operating systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance, adjudicated within last 5 years

o Optional SSBI, CI Poly

  • STEM Degree – Master's level
  • Experience writing software for Mission Planning or related systems
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) experience
  • Radar Performance Analysis experience
  • Electronic Warfare Performance Analysis experience
