Northrop Grumman is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer to oversee enterprise technical solutions development and implementation activities on the Systems Engineering, Management, and Sustainment III (SEMS III) program. This candidate will report into the Northrop Grumman Bellevue, NE Central Region EM&S Systems Engineering lead and interface daily with the SEMS Deputy PM and Chief Engineer on program technical initiatives. Work will be performed primarily on Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue, NE and will primarily support the SEMS III contract and Northrop Grumman responsibilities as assigned in support of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), and 557th Weather Wing (557 WW) customers.

Successful candidate will:

  • Serve as a member of the SEMS III leadership team on the SEMS III program at the 557th Weather Wing on Offutt AFB, NE.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for technical program issues and interface with external Northrop Grumman stakeholders for sector and corporate reach-back support.
  • Must understand, maintain an awareness of, and drive technical solutions to deliver on Northrop Grumman project requirements.
  • Must have the ability to maintain insight into industry and technology trends and the ability to align projects and acquisitions towards appropriate trends while maintaining cost and schedule constraints.
  • Coordinate with the Government Chief Architect, IPT Lead Engineers, and Program of Record Engineering Leads to ensure the integrity and execution of the enterprise technical baseline.
  • Perform reviews of and provide technical input to major technical reviews, failure anomalies investigation, and associated corrective action plans.
  • Plan, estimate, organize, integrate and manage technical activities across multiple engineering disciplines, along with the ability to effectively communicate and motivate people to work as an integrated team across geographically separate locations, companies and cultures.
  • Mentor junior engineers on technical solution development.
  • Support program and technical risk identification and management consistent with program processes.
  • Routinely interact with and support other SEMS III functional team leads such as System Administration, Software Engineering, and Project Management in support of project activities.

Other duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting new business acquisition, task order proposals, and leading special projects.
  • Provide enterprise technical overviews as part of New Hire orientation and NG or SEMS III All Hands presentations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) core engineering/scientific field of study plus 14 years of work related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years technical experience in either systems engineering or software engineering (a mix of both is acceptable if the total meets or exceeds 5 years).
  • Experience working with customers to identify, manage, and document derived and developed functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience developing end-to-end system design solutions and mission effectiveness within an enterprise environment to include architecture, hardware, software, and risks.
  • Knowledge of CyberSecurity Systems Engineering processes, policies and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on affordability to drive interaction with functional management to improve process efficiencies across engineering.
  • Current secret clearance or ability to obtain secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced STEM computer engineering, systems engineering or scientific degree
  • Proven systems architecture background to include the development and change management of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
  • Candidate must possess a strong work ethic and be a motivated self-starter, team player, well organized, very flexible, and be able to multi-task among varying complex tasks.
  • Candidate must have excellent time management skills and a proven ability to deliver on commitments.
  • Candidate must also demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Active top secret clearance with SCI eligibility
