Engineer Systems

The Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Department at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking systems engineering and modeling/simulation candidates in Linthicum, Maryland. The department is responsible for developing, implementing, and understanding modeling and simulation needs as a function of the systems engineering and mission engineering processes across air, space, land, sea, and cyberspace domains.

Your responsibilities may include any or all of the following:

  • Determine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goals
  • Mentor and direct junior staff efforts to meet program deadlines
  • Create new and adapt existing models, methods, and analysis capabilities to conduct studies to support the design, development, and assessment of advanced system design concepts and technologies
  • Develop interfaces between both customer and in-house simulations and models
  • Support system analysis, operations analysis and trade study activities to include military requirements analysis, threat system analysis, system survivability analysis, mission performance/effectiveness analysis, force-level effectiveness analysis, and military utility analysis
  • Communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters
  • US Citizen with an active Secret clearance
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: MATLAB, Python, C# or C/C++ or other programming languages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SSBI, or Active DoD Top Secret with SCI
  • M&S experience involving Sensors (Radars, IR/EO/Acoustic), Electronic Warfare, Missiles, IADS, Air/Ground/Maritime/Space platforms
  • Experience eliciting and analyzing top level mission metrics such as Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability
  • Proficiency in and/or technical understanding of operational analysis toolsets such as AFSIM, STK, Suppressor, ESAMS, BRAWL
  • Experience with version control using Git, SVN, Atlassian, or other tools
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment a plus
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Unix-based development a plus
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) a plus
  • Knowledge of domain specific radar principles, including signal processing, target acquisition, target tracking, resource management, discrimination, and battle management interfaces
