Engineer Systems 4

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking experienced Systems Engineers to join an analysis team in Northern Virginia. Qualified individuals must be self-motivated, hardworking and capable of working on multiple disciplines in support of operations. The ideal candidate will develop solutions to increasingly complex problems, utilizing ingenuity, thoroughness, and practicality, and perform their work with minimal direction and oversight. The selected candidate will be expected to engage with NGC leadership, external business partners and customers as required.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Detailed data analysis and trending
  • Analysis of Remote Sensing output
  • Performing analysis on imagery products
  • Troubleshooting system anomalies
  • Serving as the subject matter expert on parts of a complex system
  • Providing technical recommendations to management and customers
  • Creating, reviewing, and maintaining critical system documentation
  • Utilizing a variety of tools to support operational and engineering activities and anomalies
  • Development of prototype algorithms, as well as software regression testing

The position is normally day shift hours, but there will be periods where off hours work will be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), phenomenology, image formation, image science or analysis
  • Basic qualifications is a Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline, or equivalent military training or background
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work well within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders including factory engineers, management, sub-contractors, trainees and the customer across geographically diverse locations

U.S. Citizenship required. An active TS/SCI clearance based on current SSBI (within 5 years) is required; polygraph required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), phenomenology, image formation, image science or analysis

  • Basic qualifications for a Level 3 are a Bachelor's Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline with 5 years of experience, Master's Degree in Systems Engineering with 3 years of experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Basic qualifications for a Level 4 are a Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline with 9 years of experience, Master's degree with 7 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work well within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders including factory engineers, management, sub-contractors, trainees and the customer across geographically diverse locations
